(HD Video) Comedy Moments in Football – Ft Neymar, Ronaldo

The Portuguese legend is out of contract at the end of the season, and has not been shy in making his intentions clear after handing in a transfer request over the summer.

And according to the Telegraph, his club are looking into options to fill the Ronaldo-sized hole that is set to appear either over January or next summer, with RB Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko thought to be high up on a shortlist.

Ronaldo’s United return last summer initially looked to be more than just a nostalgia-fuelled attempt to appease a swiftly souring fanbase, with the forward bagging 24 goals in all competitions last year.

But this season has seen the relationship turn toxic, with a high-profile falling out with Ten Hag against Tottenham in October.

However the search for a new No 9 is not purely a result of Ronaldo’s desire to leave the club. Brought in as a 36-year-old, he was never going to be the player United build around for the future.

Furthermore, the inconsistency of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial’s woeful injury record have already left them short of reinforcements as it is.

Given their very public approach for Marko Arnautovic – a move that went down less than well with their supporters – United are thought to have gone for a change in approach, favouring a long-term solution rather than a short-term fix.

And having begun a rebuild of the leaky defence with the signings of Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia, as well as bolstering the lack lustre midfield with the additions of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro, a striker is the logical next step
