City started the season slowly with two losses, but since the 4-0 thrashing over Leicester in mid-October, they now have found their winning momentum, scoring 12 and conceding just one in the process.
In three games, Shaw netted five of those 12 goals and currently sits as the WSL’s top scorer with a seven-goal tally. She started November with the same momentum, scoring one past Reading on Sunday.
Shaw pipped WSL heavyweights for the October award, Manchester United duo Mary Earps and Leah Galton, Dagny Brynjarsdottir from West Ham and Chelsea’s Frida Maanum and Lauren James.
Shaw said: “I am delighted to win this award for the first time – it has been a very successful month for us as a team and I am grateful to everyone who voted for me in a very talented shortlist of players.
“We are feeling so confident after these recent wins and I am enjoying my football right now personally, but the most important thing is results and helping the team to have as much success as possible.
“I will keep working hard to continue my goal-scoring form to help carry on our great form of late and to keep the smiles on our fans’ faces.”
Shaw heads to Jamaica for two friendlies against Paraguay in this November international break. She has a phenomenal scoring record of 31 goals in 31 games for the Jamaican national team, since her senior debut in July 2018.
